This week, Reber Iversen from Maritime CleanTech is present at the International Maritime Organization(IMO) in London, contributing as an advisor to the Norwegian delegation during the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC).
The meeting marks a critical moment in global shipping’s climate efforts. It is the first MEPC session since October last year, when the IMO was expected to adopt its NetZero Framework (NZF) – a set of mid-term measures to deliver on the organisation’s climate strategy. The decision was ultimately postponed after opposition, most notably from the United States, halting what many had expectedto be a landmark agreement.
As negotiations now resume, attention is firmly on whether member states can align on the design of the NZF, whether an alternative approach will prevail, or whether further postponement will be the outcome.
Maritime CleanTech brings to the table insights from a broad cluster of Norwegian maritime and energy companies actively developing and deploying clean solutions. This includes experience from projects spanning hydrogen, ammonia, battery-electric solutions, energy efficiency technologies, and green value chain development.
If you have questions on the process, what is happening the IMO, or have input to our workin the Norwegian delegation, please contact Mr. Iversen directly at reber@maritimecleantech.no
